Marketing Your Functional Medicine Practice Despite the Coronavirus
As the Coronavirus continues to spread throughout the country and the world, there are some important considerations to make with your practice. While we can’t help you with everything, we can help you better market your practice during this time.
Can you keep marketing?
Should you?
How?
Let’s get right to it.
Note: This is an ever-changing situation, which means that your capacity to remain open and help patients vary depending on your location. Please always follow local mandates for the safety of you and your community.
Should You Keep Marketing? Yes.
You may need to scale back on paid advertising based on your revenue, but you should definitely still be marketing your practice. The key, though, is maintaining compassionate, level-headed messaging, or phrasing. People are nervous, and they need accurate, non-fear mongering content.
If anything, they need happiness and encouragement. Review any content you have planned for the next few weeks and remove content that doesn’t fit in the unbiased health news and encouragement categories.
Should I Mention COVID-19 in My Marketing? Maybe.
There are two ways to do this. The first is to make a statement through social media and email about how you’re handling this situation (sanitation, tele-visits, etc) then continue on as business as usual. The second is to create content based on the virus to help spread accurate, helpful information.
While you could make the decision for yourself, you can also ask your audience. Create an Instagram Stories poll, post on Instagram and Facebook, and send a newsletter to see what they want to see. They may feel overwhelmed by the other information they’re getting and want your usual health and lifestyle-related content.
Once you get some feedback, you’ll have a better grasp of how to provide for your audience during this time.
While the Coronavirus may be changing the world, it is also bringing people together. Use this time to educate, support, and encourage your audience, and they’ll remember you once this is over.
